Korean dramas on DramaFever.com now have a LOT of commercials nowadays unless one subscribes to their Premium service for $9.95/month. No thank you, since Aunty uses those commercial breaks to get water to drink or restack a pile of papers that needs attention.
Anywho, one of the commercials was about long lasting lipstick by Revlon.
Okay, guys, this really isn’t a post for you. However, it reminds me of an incident at my favorite Bank of Hawaii branch (favorite banker Iz) while making a deposit and talking to a female teller. We were talking about men and how they still looked good if they gained weight, or when their hair becomes grey. It is a bit unfair, we agreed. “But,” Aunty said, “they envy us our underwear.”
That was like an AHAAA moment, don’tcha think? So now this has become a 2 parter for the beauty tips.
The first tip is to go out and treat yourself to some nice undies. Lacy, frilly, sexy, luxurious – and use it rather than put it in a drawer for “one of these days”. Nobody (or maybe not) will know how pretty you are under your clothes, but you will know, so enjoy!
The second tip is to go to Longs and look through the colors of Revlon’s Color Stay Ultimate Suede lipstick and see. Aunty bought #065 – Catwalk, a medium dark bright brownish burgundy color. It was $9.99 and not on sale. To Aunty, this was cheap because other long lasting lipsticks from Mac cost twice that amount and have 2 part applicators that are hard to control. Those also tend to dry up the lips and cake or flake after awhile (yuck when it does).
Aunty used the Revlon Color Stay last night before going to play some friendly hands of Texas Hold ’em poker with friends, using a lip liner pencil to outline. The color was less intense than what Aunty usually uses – but Aunty liked it! Easy to apply, not drying, one step, just like regular lipstick.
Aunty ate a plateful of ono food provided by poker pals (mahalo poker pals!), played 2 games of poker (one humiliating, one victorious), and came home to bocha (bathe) and sleep. The color was still on Aunty’s lips! That was a nice surprise!
This next morning, Aunty’s lips still had color, and lips felt nice – not all dried up the way those 2 applicator long lasting lipsticks feel after a few hours. (see picture on left of Aunty’s morning lips.)
Using makeup remover, Aunty removed all vestiges of the lipstick, just because. I don’t know if it is a lipstick to use every day, but for those special occasions when Aunty wants her lips to look nice with color, Revlon Color Stay will be Aunty’s choice.
Apologies in advance to the male audience – this was girl talk. Aunty feels rather smug now. Aunty is also wondering, do guys envy our underwear AND our makeup? Life is as fair and wonderful as we think it to be.

I’m afraid they no longer make Catwalk, but I tried the Couture which is OK. I’m still trying to find the perfect color. Boho Chic was a little too dark for me. However. I love it that they stay on so beautifully and don’t come off on things.
It seems like the Longs that I go to has limited colors because the Revlon website shows more – but the pictures that correspond to certain shades are not accurate, imo. I wish Longs had display samples. Catwalk is pretty but too a little too light for me. I also have Backstage which is darker. I suppose they will come out with new colors as the seasons change. I only use these for special occasions when I know I will be eating and socializing. During the day I started using Revlon’s Super Lustricks Lipstick in a Raisin color. I like it a lot because it goes on smoothly and looks good so long as I am not pigging out on greasy food.
I am glad to rediscover Revlon – my pocketbook is much happier now.

Oh dear! I meant drying. That’s what I get for trying to do everything on iPad without my glasses.
Frying and drying, same thing, Kay. With the MAC and other brands that have you paint on the color and seal with gloss, it both fries and dries the lips. It then becomes flakey and uneven, needing special makeup remover. There were some occasions when I really wanted to keep my lips looking dressed but didn’t want to have to reapply during the event and so I went with the paint and gloss stuff before I found the ColorStay sticks. Very glad I found them – just choosing colors is rather difficult since Longs doesn’t provide samples.
I just went to Longs and got another one yesterday. The first one I got months ago was #065 – Catwalk. Nice reddish pinkish shade, a little bright and youngish. I wanted a darker shade for going out at night and got #035 – Backstage. It was just what I needed and I wore it to a dinner last night complete with lup cheong fried rice, shoyu pork, fried chicken, and local yummies complete with home made desserts. When I got home near midnight, my lips were still dressed with color. Loved it!
It stayed on even after my shower after which I was too tired to hunt for my remover, so I removed it with Pond’s cold cream this morning (a bit too greasy, imo). I need to find my makeup remover that one of the girls hijacked from me.
There are other long lasting lipsticks but they are the 2 parters – color and then gloss. Those are extremely drying to my lips and they tend to look like paint.
If you do try these ColorStay lipsticks by Revlon, I would suggest you use a pencil liner first. Not really necessary but it makes it easier to color within the lines.

Hmmm. I’ll have to check into that Color Stay Revlon Lipstick. I just hate it when it doesn’t last long and you have to keep reapplying. Eventually, I get so sick of it I just give up. Thanks for the tip.
I know what you mean, Peg! It’s hard to reapply in public and most of the time I forget. I tried the Color Stay lipstick again today – had lunch with a best friend, and my lips were still colored and not caked up! Color is a little lighter than what I usually wear, but I kinda like it.
